My Journey and Vision

Read time: 5 minutes

Welcome back, 2500 readers, to the Learning Lab.

A weekly newsletter that helps you build your robust learning system and become lifelong learners.

🧠 Brain Warmup

(A question, riddle, or conundrum to mull over)

Put a coin into an empty bottle and insert a cork into the neck. How can you remove the coin without removing the cork or breaking the bottle?

Be creative and quickly reply and I will feature you in the next issue.

Quick ask:

Since the newsletter had grown like over 500+ new subscribers in the last 2 weeks, I really want to get to know everyone a bit better, and get a gist of how to move forward with this newsletter.

If you can, please take this survey below, it would help a lot:

This post is special for me.

A lot of you have never received any post that came from this viral thread:

Some of you are 18 ready for university, while others are CEOs. Some are school principals, others are PhD candidates. Whatever it is, this newsletter is written for all of us.

Because I understand regardless of position or situation, we can universally agree that something is wrong with school.

And the vision of this newsletter is to give you the tool to become anti-fragile in any circumstance.

But who am I, and why is a 18 y.o writing about learning science and future of education?

At 15, I was fed up with the school system, so I made a presentation to convince my parents to let me homeschool.

To my surprise, they gave me a shot.

Over the next 4 years, I made stupid mistakes, had countless hiccups, had blasted and thought to myself: “hey why can’t more people experience this type of education? I mean, I am having fun, completing my study in 1/3 the time and still have friends.“

So I looked into the problem with modern day schooling and found that school was not the problem. It is only a cog in a spiderweb of problems, and I knew that if anyone wanted to change the system, it must be from the outside.

So I kept searching, and one day I signed up to the MindValley platform.

Just in time for their event “MindValley placed a $1M bet agaisnt Harvard.“

(Of course there is some elements of bias, marketingy language to create shock, but my 15 y.o brain didn’t care.)

I listened in and Vishen’s words emphasized my beliefs.

Around me, I see my sister, my cousins, peers, and teachers wasting years and $$$ on worthless credentials, just in the hope of a stable career.

That's wrong. There is more, there must be more to life.

If there isn't, I will make it happen!

I wish I tell them about this beautiful world out there. Maybe homeschooling. Maybe internship. Maybe entrepreneurship.

But I was a nobody, and I have no proof that any of this would ever work.

That’s why I am writing.

I want to document my journey, share stories, and create something so that some 14-—or 15-year-olds can resonate and know that there is another world out there.

But as positive as I am, I know my words won’t change the world.

I got to become the person who embody the values and be a living story of a journey worth living. + My content would be really boring if 10 years from now I am still sitting in my bedroom typing away. đź«

I believe that if you want to fix the world, you have to first fix yourself.

Here’re some brief ideas of how I’ll fix education:

  • Advancing my education to become an industry thought leader in the learning and education space.

  • Create an app that mixes TikTok and Tinder for recruiters. That would allow everyone to get a fair opportunity.

  • Create the 3 sides pyramid of future employment that would ultimately replace university.

If done well, this is enough to change the entire outcome and perspective of education.

These sound really basic, and I hope someone is already working on these ideas.

In education, I don’t see competition. Everyone is collaborating.

The 85 y.o razor:

When faced with a difficult decision, consult with your wiser 85 y.o self.

I think I heard it from Alex Hormozi .

I don’t need to be the person building these. I need these to exist in the world.

And dialing it back, I am 18, and learning how to learn is my first step in this 30 - 40-year mission.

I know the journey ahead is rough, but I am ready.

🎯 Takeaway

  1. Major change is coming to education.

  2. Disruption is like a parasite that exploits inwards.

  3. I’ll use first principles and logos to do what is right.

🧬 Life Update

I am very happy to be posting again.

Things have been great; content (that I am proud of) is coming out, and my learning training is on track.

I am most proud of the one below. It took more than 3 days of time, but I loved every moment of it.

I am also proud of this thread. If you want to dive more into my thought process and understand what it was like as a homeschooler, this is it 👇️

That’s a wrap.

If you want to shape the next 12 months of this newsletter, please spend 2 minutes to give me some thoughts on this survey.

Other than that, I wish you all an amazing weekend!
